Project title: Materials and nanotechnologies for new generation endovascular devices
Acronym: NanoStent
Type: Project
Annuality: First
TP/LS membership: CMDI/HMNA 1
Lead partner: CID
Partner: Polytechnic of Turin, University of Turin (CBM), University of Eastern Piedmont
Status: Completed
THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED
In the medical area there is a constant need to build better materials – innovative technologies and designs with a high content of industrial research, for the realization of endovascular devices -as regards the interactions with the environment in which they are used. In the specific case of biomedical devices, it is necessary to develop intelligent and biocompatible coatings that prevent unwanted interactions with the human body.
THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
The NANOSTENT project, thanks to the development of innovative and biodegradable polymeric materials, has developed new technological solutions for the creation of new endovascular stents that, thanks to specific mechanical characteristics and biodegradation, are able to release anti-thrombosis and antiproliferative drugs.
PROJECT RESULTS
NANOSTENT has designed new solutions for next-generation cardiac stents. The project has ensured the development of patient-oriented products, with a facilitated path of introduction into clinical practice and faster implementation of new technologies.
