Who We Are
The Italian Institute for Genomic Medicine (IIGM) is a research foundation focused on genomic research and precision medicine. Founded in 2007 by the Compagnia di San Paolo, it is now an instrumental body of the Foundation and a national benchmark for translational research. Located in Piedmont, within the prestigious Candiolo Cancer Institute (FPO-IRCCS), IIGM is built on three core pillars: Science, People, and Territory.
We conduct cutting-edge research projects, train new generations of scientists, and strengthen every day our connection with the local innovation ecosystem: universities, IRCCSs, hospitals, and companies to turn our research outcomes into real benefits for patients.
Our mission: to become a national leader center for translational research and precision medicine, fostering the growth of young talents.
What We Do
We provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and end-to-end support: from study design to biological sampling and biobanking, through data analysis, interpretation, and reporting. Our facilities include a Genomic Facility equipped with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and microarray platforms; a Metabolic Phenotyping Facility for functional cellular assays; Bioinformatics Laboratories for multi-omics data analysis; and a Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Facility offering access to advanced multiparametric cell analysis and single-cell manipulation techniques.
Scientifically, we focus on oncology and complex diseases, integrating clinical, environmental, genomic, and epigenomic data in large prospective studies. Our multidisciplinary approach accelerates the translation of discoveries into clinical practice and fosters collaborations with clinical centers, universities, and companies.
Together with our partners, we share one common goal: to accelerate the journey from discovery to care, strengthening local expertise and training researchers who combine innovation, rigor, and social impact. In this direction, IIGM aims to serve as a regional hub for genomic medicine, with an operational model designed to scale nationally.
