The Local Health Authority was established in 1995, under the name of Asl 19, from the merger of Ussl 68 (Asti) and Ussl 69 (Nizza).
Since January, 1st 2008 it has assumed the current name of ASL AT.
The catchment area served is 106 municipalities, out of 118 in the province of Asti, with a total of 198,000 inhabitants.
On the territory within the company’s jurisdiction there is a Hospital called ‘Cardinal Massaia’ located in Asti and a health centre located in Nizza Monferrato. In ASL AT there is a single district whose competence includes the three areas in which the territory is divided: Asti Centro, Asti Nord and Asti Sud.
The ASL AT regulates its organisation by assuming as a priority the centrality of the citizen and the satisfaction of his health needs.
The Company’s aim is to ensure the protection of the population’s psychophysical health, through the provision of health services, in compliance with the essential levels of care defined by the National Health Plan and according to the general and health objectives established by the Piedmont Regional Health Plan.
In accordance with the provisions of Regional Law 10/1995 and subsequent modifications and additions, ASL AT ensures the protection of the psycho-physical health of the population through the provision of services covered by the uniform levels of care established by the National Health Plan (PSN) and by those defined by the Regional Social and Health Plan (PSSR). In particular it provides for the management of:
- healthcare activities, including those of prevention as per Article 7 of the Legislative Decree;
- social and welfare activities of health relevance
- the social welfare activities whose management is assigned, by delegation, by the Local Authorities, which ensure the financing pursuant to Article 3, paragraph 3, of the legislative decree;
- by providing services through the functional branches of the socio-health district, as well as through directly managed health facilities and accredited public and private health facilities.
In addition, the “Cardinal Massaia” Hospital provides in-patient services; out-patient specialist services and hospital emergency and urgent care activities.
