The Italian Auxological Institute is a non-profit foundation dedicated to scientific research to  ensure the best care, both within its own hospitals and polyclinics, and for the benefit of the entire  National Health Service. Recognized as an Institute of Scientific Shelter and Care since 1972,  Auxologico operates in Italy (Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio) and Romania (Bucharest and Oradea) with 21  facilities in Italy (Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio) and Romania (Bucharest and Oradea), offering a  comprehensive network of hospital and outpatient services

Auxologico was the generous and far-sighted intuition of a priest from Milan, Mons. Giuseppe Bicchierai,  who was able to give a scientifically rigorous and clinically modern answer to the clinical and  psychological problems of the evolutionary age, playing a pioneering role in the experimentation of  growth hormone (1958). Hence the name Auxological, from “Auxology”, the discipline that deals with the  growth of the individual. Auxologico’s clinical and scientific interest has expanded to various aspects of  human development, with the aim of following the harmonious development of the individual from  conception to mature age, studying and treating the abnormalities and degenerative processes in acute  and rehabilitative moments.

The Institute plays an important role in the healthcare landscape, with a wide range of activities  covering different areas. In the field of scientific research, Auxologico stands out with 28 laboratories  engaged in advanced and innovative studies. The scientific output of the institute is remarkable, with  over 7,040 publications since 2,000 to date, a testimony to its constant commitment to contribute to  scientific and medical knowledge. The main areas of research and care include cardiology,  endocrinology, neuroscience, neuromotor rehabilitation, physical and rehabilitative medicine,  immunology, rheumatology, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, minimally invasive  surgery and molecular genetics. The numbers clearly demonstrate the size of the institute: 300 active  research projects, including 50 clinical trials, spread over an area of 7000 square meters dedicated to  research and training. Auxologico has established scientific collaborations with 70 countries around the  world, becoming an integral part of the most important national and international clinical research  networks.

The Institute offers comprehensive hospital services, including medical, surgical and  rehabilitation admissions. At the San Luca Hospital, the cardiological Emergency Unit provides timely  and specialized interventions. Prevention and diagnosis are fundamental pillars, with specialised visits,  instrumental examinations and laboratory analyses that allow accurate and early diagnoses. Outpatient  rehabilitation is an essential component of Auxologico’s offering, accompanied by personalized check ups aimed at preserving health and preventing disease. The institute also provides services dedicated  to companies and occupational medicine, contributing to the well-being of workers. The presence of a  nursing home for the elders testifies to the commitment of Auxologico in the care and assistance to all age groups. Its constant dedication to research and innovation makes it a fundamental reference  point in the global health panorama.
