Who We Are

INOC – Istituto Nazionale Oncologico Candiolo is a Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare (IRCCS) entirely dedicated to oncology, located in Candiolo in the Turin metropolitan area. INOC integrates clinical care, scientific research and innovation within a single institution, with the aim of improving cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The close integration of clinical and research activities supports a strongly translational approach, facilitating the progression of scientific discoveries from the laboratory towards applications with potential benefit for patients. Research activities span basic and preclinical research, translational research and clinical investigation, with particular emphasis on precision oncology and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

INOC operates within an extensive network of collaborations involving universities, IRCCSs, research institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, promoting joint research projects and public-private partnerships. The Institute also supports the valorisation of research results through intellectual property protection, technology transfer and collaborations aimed at the further development and potential industrial application of innovations originating from its research activities.

What We Do

INOC conducts integrated cancer care and research activities, providing clinical, scientific and technological expertise across different stages of oncology innovation and development.

On the clinical side, the Institute provides multidisciplinary cancer diagnosis and treatment, including molecular diagnostics, medical oncology, oncologic surgery, radiotherapy and precision medicine approaches. Clinical care is closely integrated with translational and clinical research, facilitating the investigation of novel biomarkers, diagnostic strategies and therapeutic approaches.

The Institute’s research activities are organised around the BIOLIFE platform, an integrated infrastructure supporting translational oncology research. The biobank represents a core component of BIOLIFE, providing biological samples and supporting the generation and characterisation of patient-derived tumour models. These resources are integrated with the expertise of the Genomics Centre for the molecular characterisation of tumours and with other experimental platforms within the Institute, creating a coordinated system to support the study of cancer biology and the development and validation of new technologies. These capabilities also provide a foundation for collaborations with universities, research centres, and biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medtech companies interested in developing and validating innovative solutions.

Through collaborative research, intellectual property management and valorisation, and technology transfer activities, INOC supports the translation of scientific results into development opportunities with potential clinical and industrial impact.
