Vernay Italia s.r.l., based in Asti, Italy, is part of the U.S.-based Vernay Laboratories, Inc. having its main office in Georgia, USA. The Group has manufacturing plants in the USA, Holland, Italy, China and sales entities in various parts of the world and has been in the market for more than 75 years.

The Vernay Italia plant, certified according to ISO13485 is currently undergoing strong expansion with a particular focus on the
biomedical, has a 260m2 class ISO7 cleanroom and two class ISO7 softwalls for experimental and pre-series activities. The in-plant laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation used in both design and process control such as SEM-EDS, NMR, DSC, as well as recently introduced cleanliness and bioburden measurements.

Vernay Group’s main activity is the design, manufacture and marketing of precision technical rubber and assembled items integrating complex functionalities, intended for fluid flow control (water, air, technical gases, blood, drugs, reagents, etc.) for the medical device, diagnostic, primary packaging, automotive and white goods industries. The
Engineering, R&D and Quality departments deal with the design of the technical solution from the customer’s requirements, and follow the project through the subsequent stages of prototyping, industrialization and validation. The product development team includes professional figures such as application specialists who participate in project activities in the various specialties of the medical field, such as but not limited to extracorporeal circulation, hemodynamics, hemostasis, laparoscopic access, drainage, vacuum therapy, dialysis (acute, chronic and peritoneal), ophthalmology, etc.

The Vernay Group has more than 32,000 proprietary formulations of elastomeric materials developed during the
years to meet the needs of its customers’ applications. Material customization is a key element in many applications in the medical industry, where some of the most popular polymers, such as Silicone, Polysoprene, and Perfluoroelastomers are combined with other elements to give the material the properties needed to ensure the functionality and stability required by the application.
