bioPmed Innovation Cluster
Born from the boost of the Piedmont Region under the 2007-2013 POR-FESR program, the bioPmed Innovation Cluster brings together companies, research centers, universities, foundations, ASLs, hospitals and associations active in the fields of human health and life sciences to promote interaction between research and industry, stimulate innovation and support internationalization processes. Managed by Bioindustry Park Silvano Fumero, the Cluster provides. dedicated funding for research projects and feasibility studies, high-value-added specialized services and international professional networks to support the competitiveness of companies and fostering public and private investment on common development trajectories.
On November 20, 2015, the Piedmont Region signed a framework agreement on research, innovation and technology transfer with the Aosta Valley Region. The partnership will allow companies in Aosta Valley, through bioPmed association membership, to take advantage of the services and support offered by Bioindustry Park and will encourage the concentration of funding and organizational efforts on joint innovation initiatives. The goals of the Cluster
The goal of the bioPmed Innovation Cluster is to achieve a cohesive, dynamic and competitive life sciences cluster able to interact with the health care system and recognized locally, nationally and internationally. As part of this long-term strategic vision, the Cluster aims to positively affect five key development factors:
- Theinternationalization of regional enterprises and specific business development
- The increase of research and development activities andinnovativeness of enterprises
- The development of technical and managerial skills of industry players
- The Cluster’s brand enhancement and the visibility of its members
- The competitiveness improvement of the regional system

The managing body Bioindustry Park
Bioindustry ParkPark is the regional science park that for 20 years has acted as a system integrator for the development of Life Sciences in Piedmont. Since 2009, it has been coordinating and driving the activities of the bioPmed Cluster by pooling specialized expertise, experience in the field along with a wide and thick network of international relations.
Bioindustry Park Silvano Fumero SpA has been awarded the Gold Label for Cluster Management Excellence by ESCA – European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis.
The working model
The bioPmed Cluster has had the legal form of an Association since 2014.
TheOperating Entity is Bioindustry Park Silvano Fumero S.p.A., which is in charge of ensuring the implementation of operational activities and carrying out all activities aimed at promoting the cluster and providing services and expertise to the Association’s Members.
The other governance bodies of the bioPmed Association are:
- a General Assembly, consisting of representatives of all Members, which is held routinely twice a year and extraordinarily as needed for the purpose of approving by resolution the strategic and operational choices made by the other governing bodies;
- a Board of Directors, which ordinarily meets at least four times a year and is charged to promote and implement whatever is necessary and useful to achieve the purposes of the Association;
- A Board of Auditors responsible for monitoring the administrative management of the Association and auditing its accounts;
- The Cluster Coordinator is identified by the Operating Entity from among its employees or consultants and is responsible for defining and implementing the cluster activity plan.
