THE PROJECT.

The Alps Bio Cluster project was funded through the “INTERREG Alpine Space – Priority 1 – Competitiveness and attractiveness of the Alpine Space” program. Started in 2008, it was completed in 2011.

The goal of the initiative was to establish a network of biotech-medtech clusters from five countries in the Alpine region (France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Germany) to foster business development and innovation through cooperation on the transalpine territory of specialized research centers, universities, start-up companies and SMEs.

The project aimed to bring together industrial, research and training resources in the biotechnology and biomedical sectors.
There were two networks, “Autonomy and Personal Care” and “New Diagnoses and Therapies.”

Numerous activities have been carried out, including two summer schools, several specialized seminars, five partnering events, the creation of a common website and a searchable database of companies in the different areas “Alps Life Science Search,” and a common calendar of events.

The project concluded with the signing of a collaboration agreement among the 8 project partners to continue activities of common interest and identify new opportunities for collaboration, reinforcing the results of activities implemented during the project.

ALPS LIFE SCIENCE SEARCH ENGINE

Alps Life Science Search is the search engine developed as part of the Alps Bio Cluster project to centralize all actors in partner regions active in the sectors covered by the consortium. This includes research institutes, universities, companies as well as facilitators and incubators.

It is a Google-like search engine for targeted searches in the project’s 6 partner regions, broad enough to allow searching for partners using generic terms such as oncology or research, but also precise enough to find a specific partner using a combination of keywords.
